The government of Mexico City launched an initiative called 'The Route to Mictlán' to support local cempasúchil producers. This flower is fundamental in the celebrations of the Day of the Dead in Mexico, and this route aims to boost its consumption and support the growers in the region.
The initiative includes various points of sale distributed throughout the Mexican capital. Among these are neighborhood stores, public markets, and tianguis. This way, it seeks to promote the local economy and provide residents of CDMX with the opportunity to purchase quality cempasúchil directly from the producers.
One of the objectives of this initiative is to ensure that local producers receive a fair price for their work, avoiding intermediaries that may affect their income. Likewise, it aims to promote the tradition of using cempasúchil in the altars dedicated to deceased loved ones during the Day of the Dead.
In the words of a representative of the CDMX government: 'With 'The Route to Mictlán,' we seek to strengthen the production and distribution chain of cempasúchil, supporting our local producers and promoting our traditions.' This initiative is part of the city's efforts to boost the internal economy and preserve Mexican customs in one of the most important festivities in the country.
